About Me

Lucas Vetter Marriage Celebrant

Kia ora and welcome! If you’re deciding to involve me in your wedding day, it’s only natural to want to know a bit more about the guy you’re going to be working with!

My name is Lucas Vetter, and I am a registered Marriage and Civil Union Celebrant living in the Wellington CBD.

As a self-appointed, unofficial Wellingtonian, I’ve been in the city for over 12 years now. I live in my central city apartment and love filling my time with incredible friends, amazing food and beautiful wine. With my family originally coming from Whitianga on the Coromandel Peninsula, I am the eldest of three, with an incredibly compassionate vet-nurse for a sister and extremely smart civil engineer for a brother. I am a friendly, details oriented, proudly gay man who loves to help others bring their dreams to life.

I am working as a public servant in the emergency management sector. Here I have managed to help Kiwi’s in their darkest days and am able to give back to communities across the country when they are impacted by earthquakes, floods, fires, and anything else mother nature can throw at people.

Outside of work, I love socialising and filling my life with fun and interesting people. If I’m not out walking or eating with friends, I’ll likely be hosting an intimate evening at home, looking out across the city and enjoying the best wine we can find. With a passion for travel and music, I’ve played the piano since I was 5 years old and have genuinely lost count of the number of countries I’ve visited. I also enjoy planning holidays for others and have a long list of other events I’ve organised and ran from a gala dinner for international organisations through to government conferences. With several years of volunteering for Rainbow Wellington (a local charity in the Wellington region), I’ve also run business networking events, hosted educational seminars and supported community led events.

The calling to become a celebrant felt like a natural progression for me. I love giving back to people in my day job, and I love organising and throwing a party, so combining these two clearly points to being a celebrant! I promise to deliver you a sharp, professional ceremony that will leave your guests raving and you both totally satisfied.

I am proud to be a first choice for many gay, lesbian and queer couples as a member of the Rainbow community myself, but don’t let that stop you from reaching out to me if you’re not part of the community! What matters most, is that you’re in love, and you want all your family and friends to know. I can help make that happen!

While you’re here because you’re looking to get married, I also perform a number of other services as a celebrant. These include officiating funeral services, civil unions, Master of Ceremony services at events and performing commitment ceremonies. Feel free to check out all the additional services I provide in “And more” section of my website.

I’m so excited to work with you and cannot wait to meet you in person!
